A walk on the beach...

We have been promising our friends at Cowspotdog that we would post some pictures of our beach and all the shells!  Since today was a beautiful, and blustery, Spring day, we took a walk on our beach...

Summertime and the days are long...

Have you ever noticed that the more stressful your life becomes, the busier and more chaotic, the more you need to plan quiet getaways? I know for me, the easiest way to find a place to relax, is to plan an outing my dog will enjoy. I have noticed that left to my own devices, my vactions center around fitting in as much activity as possible.  I think it is habit, in my work and day to day life I rush from one thing to the next, so I do the same thing with my vacations.

I am on day three of my current vacation, and this time I am following my dogs' lead. So far we have taken long drives and longer walks, and we have stopped to smell the flowers and taste the sweetness that life has to offer.

Long walks can lead to unexpected beauty...

And peaceful gardens...

Scarlett reminded us to stop for a sweet treat...

Yum!

Long drives lead to peaceful farms....

Full of Sunflowers!

Ryder loved this gorgeous spot!

So did Kori!

Do you have any summer vacation plans?  Do they include your pets?

Spring is here!

Now that the long, cold Winter is over, Spring arrived slowly this year, and Summer is right around the corner.  We spent most of our Winter inside cuddling the collies and trying to stay warm.  But with the arrival of sunshine and flowers, we are venturing back out, and starting to take pictures again of our adventures...

Kori, looking as pretty as a magnolia petal... Ryder, another Spring, means another picture by the Forsythia!
 Abby, Ryder's mom, posed too!
And Holly, our oldest girl, enjoying the warm sunshine... So how is your Spring going?

Tis the season...

Some of us have been a bit…naughty, and some of us have been extra nice.  So Mom said we better be careful, because Santa Paws is always watching.  She said if we aren’t good, we won’t be getting anything in our stockings but coal!

Since we don’t want that to happen, we are setting our paws on the straight and narrow, and will be minding our doggie P’s and Q’s!  And just to make sure we do get some goodies in our stockings, we paid Santa Paws a visit.  We were on our best behavior, and are pretty sure we impressed Santa.

What are kind of gifts are you hoping for this Christmas season?  Are you being extra good?

Grass Island

Last weekend we decided to take a hike on Grass Island.  So we grabbed a couple collies, because everyone knows hikes are more fun with canine companionship, and we headed off to explore a new area.

While we have never visited it before, Grass Island is located about 20 minutes away, in another shoreline town, here in New England.  It actually isn’t an island, despite the name, as it is attached to the shore by a narrow, stretch of land.  This narrow band was maybe five or six hundred feet across, so during severe storms I bet Grass Island is cut off from the rest of the town, and actually does become an “island.”  The Island was once privately owned, and the only building on the island is an iconic fishing shack.  The original house burned down in the 1930’s, and was rebuilt.  Back in the 1960’s the owners of the house and property donated it to the town.  Though only a shell remains, its simple lines and beautiful setting, make the shack on Grass Island one of the most photographed and painted landscapes in our area.

Ryder, posing pretty for the camera!

We were able to get close to the island last Spring, but could only photograph the house from across the water.  This time we figured out how to get out onto the island, and spent a peaceful afternoon wandering around and exploring the beaches of Grass Island.
