Tis the season...

Some of us have been a bit…naughty, and some of us have been extra nice.  So Mom said we better be careful, because Santa Paws is always watching.  She said if we aren’t good, we won’t be getting anything in our stockings but coal!

Since we don’t want that to happen, we are setting our paws on the straight and narrow, and will be minding our doggie P’s and Q’s!  And just to make sure we do get some goodies in our stockings, we paid Santa Paws a visit.  We were on our best behavior, and are pretty sure we impressed Santa.

What are kind of gifts are you hoping for this Christmas season?  Are you being extra good?

Tis the season!

Christmas is fast approaching, and I am way behind on my shopping!  Where does the time go?  Fortunately, the four-footed members of our little family are set!  And thanks to my daughter, their gifts are already wrapped!  Do you buy your furry family members presents?  Do they enjoy unwrapping their gifts?

Christmas with the collies!

Oh My Dog!  Did we have a wonderful Christmas!  On Christmas Eve, Mom went out to dinner with Grandma and Aunt Karen, then they went to Midnight mass.  (Which was held at 10:00, so Mom wasn't out too late!)  We didn't get to go to dinner or mass, so we waited at home, and kept watch for Santa.

Christmas morning we woke up when Mom's alarm went off.  Our human sister had to work at the dog kennel, to take care of all the dogs who were spending their Christmas there.  So we all had to get up early, but we really didn't mind.   Holly jumped up and started barking as soon as Mom's alarm went off.  She never does this, but she was extra excited because it wasn't just Christmas, it was also her birthday!  We didn't see Santa, but he did stop by our house!  We aren't sure how he got in without waking us up, but he gave us so many presents!  Kori ran right for the presents, and grabbed one.  She remembered her first Christmas last year, and couldn't wait for the rest of us.  Before our sister went to work, we were each allowed to open one present!

Mom dropped our sister off at work, and came back home for snuggling.  We watched a Christmas movie while we waited.  Before long our sister was back home, and we were allowed to open all our presents.  Scarlett really enjoyed her first Christmas, and she loved opening presents!

Then mom and our sister went over Grandma's house.  Holly was invited to go, because it was her birthday.  She spent the day getting cookies and taking turns laying in front of the fire with our collie cousin, Chase.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, or whichever holiday you celebrate!

Sometimes, it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it!

I tend to make up songs for my collies, and sing the songs to them.  (not terribly well either, but the collies aren’t critics!)  They get very happy, and bounce and wag their tails, especially if they hear their names in the songs.  Since it’s Christmas time, this is my newest song for them, and since it has lots of words they recognize, they love it! (sung to the music of “All I Want For Christmas is my Two Front Teeth.”)

All we want for Christmas
Is Bully sticks
And Stuffy toys
Gee, if we could only have stinky cow hooves
Then we would have a Merry Collie Christmas!

It seems so long since we last had
Yummy Christmas treats!
Gosh, oh gee, how happy We'd be!
Because getting lots of presents is just so sweet!

All we want for Christmas are loves and rubs
Loves and belly rubs, and kisses and hugs!
Gee, if we could only have kisses and hugs,
Then we would have a Merry Collie Christmas!

Do you sing to your dogs?  Do they like it, and get happy?

Look what the mailman brought us...

Today the mailman brought a surprise!  He delivered a big box, that smelled very interesting!  It was our Christmas package from Stella of The Three Little Pugs!  Mom and our human sister discussed whether they should let us open it now, or make us wait until Christmas.  The whole time they were talking we gave them our best pleading looks and cried softly while wagging our tails...

And we convinced them!  (Well, we convinced our human sister, who helped us convince mom.  She thought we should wait, but Mom was outnumbered! BOL)

So what was inside?

What is it?  What is it?

It's Chewies!

Look at all this stuff!  Just for us!

Investigating!

(Ryder, Pumpkin and Scarlett are very curious!)

(Scarlett found the giant box of cookies!)

Time for an even closer look!

Collie free-for-all!

We were so excited!  This was the best thing to happen all month!

Look at all the great stuff Stella and her mom sent us!  There was even a book for mom!  And not just one frisbee, but two!  Thank you so much Stella and Stella's mom!

We'd write more, but Om Nom Nom, we are a little busy!

And this week, our mom also received a package, just for her!  It was from Oskar, at Pet Blogs United!  He had a raffle, and our mom won this book!  She said the cover picture looks like a typical night at our house!

Thank you so much!

Ho, Ho, Ho...Santa came to town!

Today our local shelter was doing pictures with Santa, on the beach, to raise money.  I just had to stop by, and my mom met me there.  I brought Ryder and she brought her collie boy, Chase.

I then ran over to my sister's, and picked up Danny.  I wanted to get a picture of Danny and his daughter, Scarlett!

Christmas - collie style!

Does your dog have a Christmas wish list? With Christmas 24 days away, we have begun our Christmas shopping.  But the only family members I have bought presents for are the collies and Pumpkin kitty.

I actually braved the Black Friday sales, and went shopping at Petco and Petsmart.  Of course, I waited until the early evening to go shopping, to avoid the traffic and crowds.  But the sales were too good to pass up, and now there will be some very happy collies on Christmas morning!  Between the gifts that I bought for them, and whatever Santa brings, they should be good and spoiled on December 25th!

I am curious though, do you buy your pets Christmas presents?  Do you wrap them and put them under the tree?  Do your dogs get excited on Christmas morning, and joyfully tear open their presents?  Our dog Mojo, who we lost 6 years ago, took great delight in opening her presents.  And our collie Lad, who we lost 14 months ago, loved opening his presents.  He actually loved opening presents so much, that when he was done opening his own presents, he would help my daughter open hers!

Now that my daughter is older, and in her first year of college, she doesn't feel the same deep joy and excitement on Christmas morning that she experienced as a young child.  It's still her favorite holiday, and she enjoys giving and receiving presents as much as anyone else.  But watching our collies on Christmas morning helps us to recapture the innocent joy she felt as a little girl eagerly opening presents to see what Santa had brought for her.

Scarlett the elf, waiting for Santa!

So as we wrap our gifts to our collies, and put their names on their presents, we look forward to watching them open and play with their new toys.  Here’s a video for you to enjoy from the fun chaos of last year’s Christmas morning, when Ryder and Kori were just young pups.  I can't wait to see what happens this Christmas morning!

Christmas card photoshoot!

The collies and I are trying to come up with the perfect picture for our Christmas card.  What do you think?
