Thanks Companions Dog Resort for this info!
When traveling in the car with my collies, I am also mindful of the dangers of hot vehicles, and I never stop anywhere that might require me to leave my dogs behind in the car alone. People think they are only going to be gone for "just a minute," but things happen, and one minute turns into ten minutes or more. Temperatures in a closed car rise rapidly, and endanger your pets before you are aware of what is happening. So if they can't come with me, everywhere I plan to stop, then they stay home.
Thanks VeterinaryClinic.com! |
I just checked the temperature, looks like we will be heading out in an hour or two. Hope your weekend is full of fun! Remember to stay safe!

All excellent ideas and suggestions for hot days. Another idea is to put "cool coats" on dogs. The coats provide cooling relief to dogs through evaporation. Once we've come in from a walk and remove Sam's cooling coat. his back is noticeably cooler. We have two brands, both are available in Canada and we're willing to bet, in the USA as well. We prefer the coats from Prestige Pets as the cooling material covers more of the dog than the coat from Canine Equipment. Just another idea for keeping the kids cool. http://www.prestigepets.co.uk/cool-coat/ and https://www.amazon.ca/Canine-Equipment-Ultimate-Cooling-Coat/dp/B00K6F0K3Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1500143353&sr=8-3&keywords=cooling+dog+vest
ReplyDeleteGreat information on asphalt temp and car temps for when we take our dogs out. I also want to thank you for the Honest Dog Food review-sounds like a great company and great product.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Sunday.

Great points! I just got devices called Breeze Guards for our car. They go in the car windows and keep the dogs inside with the windows open. I hope that they will make it possible to leave the pups in the vehicle (for brief periods) on not-too-hot days.
DeleteGreat post! We go for our walk at 7am when it's coolest out☺
ReplyDeleteGood reminders! Our pawrents cannot believe how stupid some people can be!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
This post is perfect in its timing! I'm getting ready to do an outing with one of our dogs, I haven't decided which one, but this post reminds me to make sure I have a bowl (that I always seem to forget) and ice/water too!
ReplyDeleteHope you've had a fun weekend! Thanks again!
The infographic of the pavement temp is great. I haven't seen that one before. I definitely have to share this post with my readers. This information is so important for everyone to know. Happy Summer!
