Happy Scarlett!

Yesterday, we spent the 4th of July at a dog show.  It was an all-breed show, with over 1,500 dogs entered, and over 150 different breeds.  So it was a fun way to spend the holiday, for a dog lover!

It was made even more exciting, when Scarlett won!  She won Winner's Bitch and then beat the Winner's dog, for Best of Winners!  We are so proud of our little girl!

She is pretty pleased with herself too!

  1. Stopping by to wish you a happy holiday weekend and to thank you for your kind comments. They did come through on our end.

We want to thank you so very much for your kind words of comfort and friendship after our very sudden loss of Thunder. We are all still very sad, but the support and love from all of our friends from all over the world is helping to heal our broken hearts. We are sure that Thunder Dunder is now in a very happy place and also very thankful to have so many wonderful friends.

Woos - Phantom, Ciara, Lightning, and Mom Kathie
Pee Ess - Thunder and Ciara have the same father. And Lightning's mother has the same father as Thunder and Ciara, so they are all related somehow or other:)

    1. That's good, in a way, you will still have Thunder with you. I'm sure he is watching over you. I have to believe they are waiting for us. Albert Payson Terhune was a famous writer from the 1900's. he wrote about his collies, but most dog lovers would agree with his feelings.

      Albert Payson Terhune -

“I wonder if it is heretical to believe that when at last my tired
feet shall tread the Other Shore, a madly welcoming swirl of exultant
collies—the splendid Sunnybank dogs that have been my chums here—will bound forward, circling and barking around me, to lead me Home!”

Heaven wouldn't be heaven without them!

  2. Howdy Mates, congratulations on your win Scarlett. The dog show sounds wonderful. Mum and Dad went to a small show the other day (without us, boo hoo). They smelt amazing when they got home though! No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

    1. Thank you! It was noisy with all the neighbors shooting off fireworks, but the collies were pretty good about dealing with it.

Yes, they are hydrangeas, and I think the soil has a lot to do with the color. The picture was taken in my mother's yard, but I might try to plant one next year. They are very pretty!

    1. Her win on Thursday, and today, are her first two wins. :) we haven't entered her in many shows, because she was too thin. She has finally started to body up, and the judges seemed to have noticed! Lol

    2. No, the dogs/bitches are entered in classes. (6-9 puppy, 9-12 month puppy, American bred, Bred by exhibitor, Open) Then if they win their class, they go back in against the other class winners. From these first place winners, they choose a Winners dog/bitch. The Winners dog/bitch get points for their championship. (The more dogs/bitches entered, the more points.).

Then the champions go into the ring, along with Winners dog and Winners Bitch. From this group the judge picks Best of Variety, Best of Winners, and Best of opposite sex to best of variety.

Then the dog or bitch who won Best Of Variety goes on to the Herding Group. He/she will compete against all the other herding dogs who won BOV. That judge will award four placements. (Group 1, Group 2, group 3 and 4)

The dog who wins Group 1 will go against all the other Group winners. (Toys, sporting, etc). From the 1st place group winners, that judge will choose Best In Show. To win Best in Show, the dog has to win multiple times! (And it takes all day!)

  12. And is that hydrangea at your house? I had one that never came back this year. Want to get another one. It was supposed to be blue, and I got one blue a few years ago, then they came in various shades of purple/pink. It never really did get very big. I was told to cut it back every fall to the ground, which I was doing, but wonder if I should not have done that since it didn't come back this year.

    1. Yes, but it's at my mother's house. I'm not sure if she cuts it back, I'll ask her for you. :)
