Saturday's hike!

Today we decided to hike in Sleeping Giant State Park.  This park was named Sleeping Giant because it resembles a giant sleeping on his back.

(this isn't my picture)

The day was beautiful, perfect for hiking.  We brought Abby and Holly, since they missed the last hike to the waterfalls.  Ryder came too, because he loves hiking so much.  Everyone seemed to enjoy seeing the collies, they received a lot of attention.  I lost count of how many people, passing us on the trail, called Ryder by the name "Lassie!"  All the children loved him, and many told their parents that they wanted a dog like Ryder.  He loved all the attention, so did Abby and Holly.

The first half of the hike is all up hill, so it took us awhile to reach the top.  The trail wound through trees, so it was shaded for most of the hike.

We had to take a few breaks along the way, for Abby and Holly...and for me!

My daughter, taking a break on one of the park benches.

Abby and Holly hiked in tandem almost the entire way!

We finally reached the top, where the Lookout Tower is located.

I think the collies enjoyed the day, but they are all sound asleep, exhausted from the hike!  This hike was part of our participation in the Parkday 2.0 game.  With today's hike, we won two more Bingo's!

  1. What a neat place to hike. It does look like a Giant Sleeping ... how cool! Taking Collies places is like taking a celebrity I have found out. They get so much attention from everyone and the Collies love every minute of it.

    1. They really do! After the first 20 or so hikers greeted and fussed over them, I caught the collies eyeing the other hikers, waiting for them to acknowledge their awesome collieness! lol

    1. It was a long hike, probably made longer because we took the two older collies, and me. I was definitely a contributing factor in the slow progress we made! lol

    1. Now that we are back to work, our Bingo progress will be slowed down. We are having so much fun with this, and it's making me find new places to hike with the collies...which they love!

    1. It was a really nice park, but the trails were pretty crowded. Probably because it's across the street from a large univerisity.

    1. This Parkday game was a great idea. We are visiting so many parks with the collies as a result, and they love it! Sleeping Giant is a great park if you are looking for new places to hike. There is suppose to be a waterfall in the park too, but we didn't make it to that trail.
