Growing up, one of my favorite things to do during the holidays was to drive around with my Mom and look at Christmas lights. It always brought me joy, and when my daughter was old enough, I would take her to see the lights too. And the department store windows that featured animatronic displays would always captivate me as a child! I could not wait to stroll along the sidewalks and gaze at those wondrous creations!
These days, no one seems to want to pile into the family car and drive around looking at lights with Christmas songs blasting through the speakers. Sadly, very few stores create those magical holiday displays in their windows any longer. I’m thankful that even when the majority of my family and friends don’t want to go look at Christmas lights with me…my collies are always happy to come along!
What is one of your favorite holiday memories?

What a fun trip you and the pups had. Your front seat passenger looked like they were enjoying all the light displays.
ReplyDeleteYes, she was pretty happy, she rarely gets to ride shotgun, lol. The lights were set up inside a State park, so I had to drive below 10 mph, which gave us time to enjoy the lights.
DeleteMy grandparents would take me to New York to see the tree at Rockefeller center and the Rockettes.
ReplyDeleteYes, that was a family adventure, we always drove around looking at all the Christmas lights too! We still do LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe still go to look at the lights, but yes, I miss the decorated windows.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about Christmas. I miss those window displays
ReplyDeleteI can remember the department store windows and it was always fun to see what they came up with year after year. I don't remember driving around to look at lights but I do love all of the colorful festive lights!
