Look what the wind blew in...

Two years ago today, following Hurricane Irene, three little puppies were born.  Two were little boys, and both were rough collies.  The third puppy was a little girl, and she was a smooth collie.  The first puppy born was larger than the other two and his sweet collie mother labored for a long time to whelp him, but he was stuck.  On the way to the animal hospital, while riding in the car, he was finally born, and so his name became Ryder.

At the animal hospital his sister, Kori, and his brother, Luke were born.  Ryder and Kori stayed with their collie mother, Abby, and their Aunt Holly Collie.  Their human mom and sister decided to keep them both.  Luke, was deeply loved, but he had a job to do.  He went to live with a family who were grieving over the death of their beloved collie.  Luke is now the best friend of two little boys, who love him very much.

Happy 2nd Birthday Ryder, Kori and Luke!  You make us so happy, and we love you all very much!

Today Holly the happy collie had her surgery!  She is home and resting, with her paw wrapped in a pink bandage.

The collies are grateful...

Many of you know that our human sister was attacked by a large dog on Sunday.  (we sure wish we could have a talk with that dog!). But there is Good news - our human sister is healing!  Her human doctor said her wounds are looking better!  We think its because of all the good thoughts and prayers she has received, thank you all so much!

Holly's surgery is on Friday, the animal doctor is going to remove her injured toe, and send it off to the pathologist.  Paws crossed that it comes back negative for cancer!  Our mom is very worried about her.

Also, we entered Ryder's picture in the Blogville calendar contest.  He is receiving overwhelming support from all our collie friends, and we are so grateful!  Thank you everyone!

And please, please, please consider purchasing a calendar when the contest ends.  The money from the sale of the calendars is going to help one special little dog, Benny the French Bulldog, who is fighting cancer.  We lost one of our own collie family members, Lad, to cancer when he was only 7 years old.  And we want to help Benny win his battle.

A request...

We are having a very difficult time right now, so if you could keep us in your thoughts and prayers, we would appreciate it.

My daughter was attacked by a dog at work yesterday.  She had 21 puncture wounds, some of them very deep. They are on both sides of both her arms.  She had to have stitches and is all bandaged up.

She is bandaged up to her elbows. She is very swollen, and pretty sore right now.  The worry now is infection. If infection sets in, she will have to be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics. She may also need to see a plastic surgeon.

And this morning we got a call from out vet. And She wants to amputate Holly's toe on Friday. Holly has had something wrong with one of her toes for a few weeks. Our vet tried two different antibiotics, neither worked. She has this open wound that just won't heal. We went for an X-ray on Friday, and that shows it is not cancer in the bone. But since its not healing, and there is still a risk of a soft tissue cancer, she thinks we should just remove the toe. After what we went through with Lad, I think I would just rather go ahead with the surgery instead of risking the chance of cancer that might spread. I just can't believe we are being hit with all of this at once!

It started!

The dogs of Blogville contest started!  This year the contest will benefit Benny, who is fighting cancer.    We want to thank Jodie of Heart Like A Dog and Julie of the Daily Dog Blog for organizing and hosting this fun contest!  Here is how it works:

About the voting process.  Voting opens today at 12:00 noon Eastern Standard time (NYC) it is limited to one IP ADDRESS per 24 hour period.   For those of you with multi-computer households it is important to remember that any smart phone, tablet, computer that shares a network also shares an IP address.  If you vote on your computer then try and vote on your phone, chances are it won’t work, unless you disconnect from your network. If someone tells you they tried to vote and they can’t, then that is probably the issue.
The voting tool is AFTER the photos, all you do is scroll down to the little circle next to Ryder's name and click it.   The move down to the button that says VOTE and click that.  Here is the link:

What we have been doing...

This week we are entered in a five day dog show.  A group of kennel clubs joined together, and decided to hold their shows at the same location, on consecutive days.  That way they will all get larger entries, because people love having multiple shows at the same site.

Scarlett won Reserve Winner's Bitch the first day, and the Winner's Bitch/Best of Winners on Thursday and Friday!  There are two more days left, so we will have to wait and see how she does!

It was such a beautiful day, Ryder came along.  So of course, we had to take some pictures! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Tuesday's Tails

Today is Tuesday so that means it's time for "Tuesday’s Tails," the blog hop that features shelter animals.

So today I decided to once again share two beautiful collie mixes, Lester and Lucie, who have been looking for homes for a very long time.  Is there anyone out there looking for a new best friend?

Please don't forget about Lester and his sister Lucie. These precious pups are eagerly awaiting their new home. Contact #985-863-2156 or #504-251-7879 or email: louisianacollies@yahoo.com

Catching up!

What a crazy few weeks it has been!  Our home computer is not working, which has limited our time online.  Work has been crazy, as we are going through a merger.  And we are also dealing with a couple personal issues at home.  The collies have been nagging me to update their blog though, so I promised them I would make an effort!

This week we will be on a “mini-vacation.”  We entered Scarlett at a local dog show, which will run from Wednesday – Sunday.  So please keep your paws crossed for her!

We have missed our blogging friends!  Hopefully everyone is doing well, and we hope to stop by each of your blogs this week to catch up!  I have decided it’s time to get back in shape, so we have been walking every evening and I am squeezing in gym time too.  The collies are loving all the walks we are taking, so that is one thing they aren’t complaining about!  We just found out that the Blogville calendar is about to start up, and we have to choose a picture to submit.  We want to make sure it’s a good quality picture, so we are thinking of using one of the pictures below.  What do you all think?

We're back!

Hi everyone!

We are sorry the collies had to take a break from their blog, we had some issues that we needed to deal with.  But we are back and hope to stop by and visit everyone's blogs this week.
